I wrote a review over at HP telling them how I had a really bad experience with the Notebook purchased last Christmas. The issue started when the unit failed (maybe due to the recalled battery or the defective video chip) I dunno. Either way it was out of warranty a few days when I was told a Escalations manager would call me. The next day I was contacted and the “manager”  (I won’t name him or her) stated my notebook was out of warranty and there was nothing that would be done for me. I was not happy to say the least. I pleaded with this person and stated I had been a loyal HP customer and had actually worked for the company as a Support supervisor back in 1998  -2000. My reason for not knowing about the issues before was this laptop was stored in a laptop bag while I was in the hospital for the past half year (it was the one purchased for my Uncle Juanito who passed away last June). The information fell on deaf ears. I attempted to contact the CEO and I believe my cousin Frank even corresponded with the powers that be for HP with no resolution.  I have taken a big breath, let it out and made my peace with this lost cause. I will no longer purchase HP computers. I have to take a stand on this and all I ask of you (the reader and potential customer) is to remember what they did to me, Keeme, one customer aka the Howard Beales’ of today’s disposable consumer electronics.  Join me if you can against the poor customer service and let us send a message ala  Howard Beale:

‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell – ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad!… You’ve got to say, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:

Here is the review I am certain will not be posted on the HP site.

HP DV7 series

These two products made me lose faith in HP products for the final time. I have purchased only HP (I used to work for the company a few years back) and love them. I still do but because of faulty video and poor customer service I have made a decision to go else where for the next purchase (actually to replace my DV7). At first the unit was like a dream and actually had strangers come and look (I am certain it created a few sales for HP at this point). Then the issues started first the web-cam failed, then the battery issues and finally the video chip fried. It was a few days out of warranty (due to being in the hospital was unaware of it’s defects). I pleaded with the customer service manager for help and I got “we will not help you”, I was shocked at the lack of compassion. I wrote a letter (unanswered) to the CEO. The defective products alone did not drive me away, it was the lack of customer service that pushed me. The notebooks are really nice and should last you the length of the warranty, if you do buy one get the extended warranty – YOU WILL REQUIRE IT.  One last word, I have not always felt this way about the company, I am sure someone just dropped the ball… whats the loss of one customer.
